Subculture series: Mallgoth

In today's subculture series I wanted to talk about a type og goth that is often forgotten: The mallgoth! If you don't know what they are or where you can find these goth's, read on! You will be surprised.

Where do they come from?
Mallgoths can be found in shopping malls and in shopping streets. These are mostly groups of people from age 13-17 that hang out together to show of how goth they are. If you spot them near Hot Topic taking smarties and saying those are drugs, you have found them.

What do they look like?
Now this is how you can recognize most Mallgoths, they wear black wide jeans, often dyed themselves, or Tripp pants (with loads of chains) and band shirts of Marilyn Manson, Slipknot or other bands that aren't even goth. They only buy things at Hot Topic because they things it is the most goth shop that exists. Their shoes are skater shoes or sneakers, because they can't afford anything else or just don't find it comfy enough. They paint their faces white and have loads of black eyeliner, and put in fake homemade piercings. They also dye their hair with markers, of just plain black with loads of roots showing.
Since these are often kids, they are considered the 'posers' of the goth scene.

What do they listen to?
They listen to anything that they think is goth, but really isn't. Bands such as:
- My Chemical Romance
- H.I.M.
- Evanescence
- Marilyn Manson
- Slipknot
- Black Veil Brides

Other things you should be aware of...
Mallgoths will consider themselves as the top of the gothic existence, most of them however don't know anything about the goth subculture, and just like metal music and Hot Topic clothes. Some of these mall goths will eventually grow into real goth's because some of them try and understand the subculture. Most of them won't. If you see them, don't even try and start convincing them that they aren't really goth and that they don't know what it means, because they will just start whining and complaining how you don't understand that they are goth.
